All about Class 5

|

This is the first step into the Juniors.  The children in this class are in Year 3 and 4.  We are sometimes called Lower Key Stage 2.

In our class, the children cover a range of exciting topics such as Fairy Tales and Persuasive writing in Literacy, Sculpting and Mechanisms in DT and Sounds and Rocks in Science.

Like the rest of the school, we get to go on lots of exciting trips that change each year. Some of these have included; watching the Awful Egyptians at Preston Guild Hall, watching movies at the local cinema and tubing at Ski Rossendale.

To find out a little more about our class and what they we learning this term, please have a look at 'What we are learning in Class 5.'

If you wish to know more about the Year 3 and Year 4 curriculum, please do not hesitate to contact school.

Within Class 5, the children will cover a range of topics across the curriculum.  Due to the amount of history and geography topics that the children are required to study in Key Stage Two and the mixed aged classes that we have at St Oswald's, we run a four year cycle.

2017 - 18    Cycle AA

2018 - 19    Cycle BB

2019 - 20    Cycle AC

2020 - 21    Cycle BD

Reading in Class 5

|

We continue to use the Letters and Sounds phonics reading scheme in Key Stage 2. We also use Support for Spelling with those who have achieved Phase 6 in Letters and Sounds.

The reading scheme we use in Key Stage 2 is Collins Big Cat.
